Sithembele boasts an investment experience of over 21 years. His journey to Asset Management started at Nedbank where his role involved amongst other things, the launch and management of Nedbank’s Money Market Unit Trust. The portfolio grew from R5m capital to over R400m within 18months under his stewardship. He has won various accolades during his career both in his personal and team capacity with his highest being the Nedbank Super Gold Award. He then spent a total of 11 years at Rand Merchant Bank as a Bond trader and market maker for about 3 years and 7 years managing RMB’s Swaps trading and price making. He also spent some time in Namibia as Head of Trading, making prices in all Fixed Income products including, FX spot and forwards and was responsible for developing Africa trade strategy on behalf of Firstrand. His team won multiple Market awards, including Spire during his tenure at Rand Merchant Bank and a couple of the prized BSD Awards. He was also a member or the RMB Global markets risk board. He was chairperson of the UKZN Investment and Liabilities committee and also chair of Hosmed Investments board.
Koketso has been working in investment banking and asset management for 18 years in various capacities. His last position was as the Executive Head of Private Equity and Structured Investment Products at the Public Investment Corporation, the largest asset manager in Africa with R2.0 trillion or US$160 billion under management. Koketso oversaw a portfolio of approximately 12.5% of PIC’s assets under management i.e. R250bn in Alternative Asset in Sub-Saharan Africa. He formed part of PIC’s top management serving as a member of EXCO, Portfolio Management Committees and Valuations Committee. Koketso has strong board experience where he drives value creation for investors, he is currently a board member of the following companies: Afgri Group & Rand Mutual Assurance. He was previously a board member of the following: Bayport Management Ltd, Ethos Fund VI, Medu Fund II & III, Menlyn Maine Investment Holdings.
William’s investment career spans a period of over 22 years. William’s career started at UBS Investment Bank within the Proprietary Trading and Investment Desk Division where his team managed an Equity Portfolio of over R5bn. He was later promoted to lead the South African division of UBS Investment Bank’s Proprietary Trading and Market Making Team, a position he held for 5 years. He later joined JP Morgan to take up an equivalent position, as the Head of Trading in SA, managing an Equity Investment Portfolio that exceeded R1.5bn at times and had exposure to both spot and derivative markets. His last banking stint was at BNP Paribas where he guided the organization in the set up their South African Trading operations before embarking on a quest to establish himself as a Porfolio Fund Manager.
Mark’s career as an investment professional spans well over 30 years. He successfully founded and has led a number of regulated companies in South Africa and the UK, one of which was a full member of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, international mutual funds and global asset management companies. As a partner in and executive practitioner of CLPSA, he sits on the investment committee of the firm. Mark also sits on the boards of a number of unlisted companies as a non-executive director and provides counsel to several emerging asset management companies. He holds a degree in Economics and is a member of the Investment Analysts Society of South Africa and the Institute of Directors in South Africa.
Nomfundo has over 13 years of extensive experience within the Financial Services and Banking Sectors. Her career began with a role at Deloitte, where she worked in their Immigrations and Tax Department. She then moved to Investec Private Bank, where she was responsible for providing Private Banking services, transactional banking and asset-based financing to High Net Worth individuals. Subsequently, she worked at BoE (Board of Executors) in the Structured Lending Department, focusing on origination and execution. She then spent six years at Standard Bank Corporate and Investment Banking where she held various roles including, Relationship Management in charge of a portfolio of Multinational entities, Mining Sector as well as Telecommunications. She was also seconded to the Credit and Risk Department as a Credit Risk Manager.
Similo started his career as a Chemical Engineer, it was during this period he realized his true passion was in investments. He has over 7 years of experience in various roles including junior portfolio manager and portfolio manager. He left Eskom to join the Sanlam’s Alternative Investments team as a junior hedge fund manager on their Alternative Investments Academy. During the time at Sanlam Investments he has worked at Blue Ink, a fund of fund and Praesidium Capital Management, a boutique asset management firm that trades in the local, Europe and US equities’ market. He later joined Capital Link Partners as an associate responsible for managing multi asset funds. Similo’s key strength is his ability to use algorithms to assist in evaluating investment opportunities.
Digone has over 8 years’ experience in a multitude of roles, including, Business and feasibility Analyst, Project Manager and Private Equity Associate. His career focus has been on business case development, feasibility studies, capital investment justification and Business Analyst. He has spent time preforming these roles at Transnet, Standard Bank, where he was primarily based in Namibia and Swaziland, ABSA Capital and LibFin. Digone also founded a small boutique advisory firm that focused on assisting SME’s with enterprise wide solutions. He later joined Capital Link Partners as an associate focusing on Capital Solutions. In this role, he is required to assist in corporate finance and private equity transactions from identifying, negotiating, closing and monitoring of investments.
Kamogelo has over 2 years of experience in portfolio analysis. She first joined Capital Link Partners as a graduate trainee and is now a permanent member of the team. She is primarily responsible for performing fundamental and quantitative analysis on local and global assets.
Zandile Ngwenya has over 6 years in the Administration field. She spent part of her career with a financial institute, administrating loans on behalf of FNB as a quality assessor. In this role she was responsible for call center of over 100 agents, overseeing their phone interactions and applications with clients. She thereafter spent majority of her administration career in the Corporate events and Advertising / Marketing industry. She later joined Capital Link Partners as an Office Manager responsible for ensuring that the office runs smoothly and effectively.
Phumzile Kwapeng has over 16 years of experience in the investment management industry having worked for a number of stockbroking firms. She began her career working at SA Stockbrokers as a client Liaison. She later joined Consilium Securities in 2016 as an assistant settlement officer and has since been responsible for settlements for the Flexible Fund and the World Wide Flexible fund.
Khuselwa has over 7 year experience in corporate hospitality. She started her career at Bidvest where she spent over 5 years in their cleaning services division. She later joined capital link partners to take up a role that focused on ensuring that the Capital Link Partners offices are at all times presentable, ensuring that all CLP guests are taken care off. She also assists the office manager with some administrative tasks as she seeks to broaden her horizon.
The CLP Graduate Development Program is an opportunity that offers qualified graduates structured on-the-job learning, networking opportunities and technical industry training. CLP believes in developing talent inhouse, with a bias towards young, black female professionals. During the program the graduates are exposed to the Alternatives, Fixed Income and Capital Solutions divisions; and through this rotational exposure they will be able to decide where they are best suited based on interest and capabilities.
Thobisa Matiso is a graduate trainee at Capital Link Partners. She holds a Bcom degree in Economics and Business Management from Nelson Mandela University. Her field of interest is centred around investment analysis.
Sempitseng Ngoqo is a graduate trainee at Capital Link Partners. She holds a degree in Accounting Science from UNISA. Her field of interest is centred around equities trading and analysis.
