Sithembele Manyadu

Sithembele boasts an investment experience of over 18 years. His journey to Asset Management started at Nedbank where his role involved amongst other things, the launch and management of Nedbank’s Money Market Unit Trust. The portfolio grew from R5m capital to over 400m within 18months under his curatorship. The fund moved from being ranked last at no17 to no 1 during this period. He later joined Rand Merchant Bank where he went on to be highly successful. He is well recognized in the Fixed Income and Derivatives Markets. His responsibilities span across trading and structuring functions.

His team won multiple Market awards, including Spire during his tenure at Rand Merchant Bank and a couple of the prized BSD Awards. He has won various accolades during his career both in his personal and team capacity with his highest being the Nedbank Super Gold Award, BSD Awards and the Spire both at Rand Merchant Bank.

He spent the last 3 years co-managing 2 Hedge Funds, namely, a Multi Strategy Hedge Fund and Aggressive Multi Strategy Hedge Fund. His strength stems in deeper understanding of money market, debt and interest rate markets including derivatives.

He holds an MSc in Risk Management from New York University- Stern School of Business, Master of Management - Finance and Investment from WITS, Post Grad Diploma in Marketing from UNISA and a B.Comm Degree from Fort Hare University.


William Ofosu


William’s investment career spans over a period of 19 years. William’s career started at UBS Investment Bank within the Proprietary Trading and Investment Desk Division and his team managed an Equity Portfolio of over R3bn. He was later promoted to lead the South African division of UBS Investment Bank’s Proprietary Trading and Market Making Team, a position he held for 5 years. He later joined JP Morgan to take up an equivalent position, as the Head of Trading in SA, managing an Equity Investment Portfolio that exceeded R1.5bn at times and had exposure to both spot and derivative markets. His last banking stint was at BNP Paribas where he guided the organization in the set up their South African Trading operations before embarking on quest to establish himself as a Hedge Fund Manager. He was a partner at Ilanga Group, a principal private equity firm for a period of 4 years. During this period, he was involved in a few big transactions including, Consol and Total SA.


He spent the last 3 years co-managing 3 Hedge Funds, namely, Multi Strategy Hedge Fund and Aggressive Multi Strategy Hedge Fund. His strength stems from a deeper understanding of risk and its cross-asset dynamics, which assists in the optimization of risk elements to generate alpha.

He holds a B Comm Degree from Rhodes University.







Dr Dieter Hendrick


Dieter has several years’ experience as a quantitative researcher and developer. Most recently, he was the lead quant in a team responsible for the design, calibration and deployment of a suite of automated execution-style trading algorithms for the South African equity market. While at Cadiz and at BNP Paribas, Dieter produced numerous research reports on cross asset derivatives and risk management.


His PhD Research considers the ‘application of reinforcement learning techniques to solve the optimal liquidation problem in financial markets’. Dieter is currently at the MAN Institute at Oxford University completing a post-doctorate fellowship. He is due to complete his post doctorate fellowship in June 2017 and in the meantime, he utilizes his time by consulting to various firms. To keep our risk and compliance solid, we have continuous risk and risk model operational meetings with Dieter.







Koketso Mabe


Koketso has been working in investment banking and asset management for 15 years in various capacities. His last position was as Executive Head of Private Equity and Structured Investment Products at the Public Investment Corporation, the largest asset manager in Africa with R2.0 trillion or US$160 billion under management. He oversaw a portfolio of approximately 12.5% of PIC’s assets under his management i.e. R250bn in Alternative Assets whilst reporting to the CEO and supported by a staff complement of 25 investment professionals. He was part of PIC’s top management serving as a member of EXCO, Portfolio Management Committees and Valuations Committee.


Prior to this position, he headed the PIC’s Credit Risk Management department, reporting to the Chief Risk Officer, where he was in charge of the following portfolios: Alternatives, Fixed Income Private Placement, Properties (M&A only) and Derivatives Products. However, his main focus was primarily on unlisted investment in the Isibaya Fund which looks at transaction in Private Equity, Project Finance, Corporate Finance (including SME) and 3rd Party Fund investments. Over this period, Koketso has overseen over ZAR25 billion in investments being approved in Sub-Saharan Africa.


Before joining the PIC at the beginning of 2008, he worked in the Markets and Investment banking of German/Italian bank, Bayerische Hypo-und Vereinsbank (HVB Group AG – member of UniCredit Group) in their Emerging Markets Origination Team as a Senior Investment Analyst. HVB Group is the second largest bank in Germany. He was involved in the origination and execution of transactions in Project Finance and Corporate Finance.

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Insurance and Actuarial Science from the University of Pretoria







Pierre Mananga


Pierre is an analytical and skilled Treasury & ALM Professional with 12 years of Balance Sheet Management at large Financial Institutions. He boasts vast knowledge in overseeing Treasury Management Processes, Risk Management and ALM Processes and Policies. Well-versed in developing and implementing both daily and long-term strategies aimed at risk management and balance sheet growth. Pierre possesses a strong Mathematical background which enables him to find solutions to an increasing number of problems such as optimizing the firm’s liquidity position and recommending suitable short-term or long-term investments or borrowings. His possess extensive knowledge in handling large amounts of data from diverse Financial Applications and Databases, analysis of Big Data, Trends and preparing a full range of Treasury and ALM related reports.


He holds a Masters in Management (Finance & Investments) from Wits University, Honours in Financial Engineering from University of Pretoria, BSc in Mathematics from Unisa,
